Corn & Sprouts Bhel - snack on live foods!

‘Bhel’ is a lip-smacking savoury, commonly made out of puffed rice and is mostly relished by all age groups. How about a healthier version of the much-loved bhel! Yup, here’s how you could weave the same magic only this time, use steamed corn and sprouts in place of puffed rice. Combined with finely chopped vegetables, laden with khatta-meetha chutney and served with love, this bhel is a sure shot hit recipe for your kids and adults alike!
It's indeed, an interesting way to add the nutrition of sprouts. It is protein-rich and makes for an excellent anytime snack for your kids to boost their energy levels. A no-fuss snack, it will take just a few minutes to mix the Sprouts and Corn Chatpata Bhel if you have prepared the chutney beforehand.
Ingredients
- Fresh corn: 1 cup (steamed)
- Mixed sprouts: 1½ cup (steamed)
- Steamed potato/sweet potato: 1 cup (boiled and chopped)
- Tomatoes: 1½ cup (chopped)
- Green capsicum: 1½ cup (finely chopped)
- Onions: 1½ cup( finely chopped)
- Carrot: 1½ cup (grated) (optional)
- Rock salt and black pepper powder to taste
- Roasted cumin seeds or chaat masala: 1½ tsp
- Lemon juice: 1½ spoon
- Dates and tamarind chutney: 1½ tsp
- Green chutney: 1½ tsp
- Fresh coriander/dhaniya leaves: to taste (chopped)
Method
- In a mixing bowl, put steamed corn, steamed sprouts, onions, potatoes, capsicum and tomatoes
- Add lemon juice, salt, roasted cumin powder/chaat masala, black pepper powder, dates and tamarind chutney and green chutney.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
