Iyengar Rasam Powder, an aromatic and spicy mixture of ground spices is added while preparing various types of south Indian style lentil soups (rasam). One advantage of preparing it at home is that you can adjust the amount of spiciness by an increase or decrease the amount of black peppercorns and dry red chillies. Different types of rasams can be prepared quickly using this homemade rasam powder iyengar. The ingredients are usually roasted with a spoon of oil separately and then powdered. This version has no oil.

Ingredients
- Coriander seeds: 3cups
- Red chilli: 3 cups
- Toor dal: 1 cup
- Mustard seeds: 1/4 cup
- Cumin seeds: 1/4 cup
Method

(Raw and powdered)
- Sundry all ingredients for 1/2 day or warm them in an iron vessel.
- Grind them to a fine powder.
Tip : Needs additional boiling as the powder is raw when rasam is prepared
