Goodness of raw veggies, coconut and peanuts…..all rolled into one! Lettuce rolls is a colourful and delicious package of diverse, healthy ingredients. A combination of veggies and nuts topped up with the khatta meetha taste of the imli-khajur sauce, rolled into crunchy lettuce leaves.

Choose fresh, crisp lettuce leaves to get best results! You could prepare the imli-khajur sauce in advance and stock in your fridge, to be instantly used when putting together the lettuce rolls.


Ingredients

  • Lettuce leaves: 6
  • Carrot: ½ cup (grated)
  • Onion: ½ cup (cut into thin slices, lengthwise)
  • Peanuts: ½ cup (roasted and skinned, kept whole or crushed)
  • Coconut: ¼ cup (grated)
  • Green Chilly: 1 chopped fine (optional)
  • Imli Chutney: ½ cup
  • Rock salt: per taste.
  • Chilli flakes: 2-3 tbsp (to be sprinkled as per taste)
  • Flat serving plate for lettuce leaves & bowls for all ingredients

Method

Placement:

  • Wash and dry the lettuce leaves.
  • Keep the lettuce on a flat serving plate.
  • Keep all the other ingredients in separate, small bowls (katoris).

To make rolls:

  • Take a lettuce leaf.
  • Now, with a dessert spoon, scoop each ingredient from the bowls, and place on the lettuce leaf.
  • Sprinkle some salt, chilli flakes and imli chutney on the ingredients.
  • Roll the lettuce leaf and place on a serving dish. Repeat the same with all the leaves.
  • Simply bite into the rolls like a pan-patta and enjoy your crunchy salad roll!

  • Type: Raw salad
  • Great salad for upping the raw quotient and can be mixed with any type of meal.
  • Remember not to mix with fruits!
