Amaranth flour makes wonderful rotis just as wheat does. As opposed to wheat, it is also alkaline in nature, helping maintain our body’s internal PH balance. Whether you want to go gluten free, grain free or simply want to add some variety to your plate both taste wise and nutrition wise, adding amaranth flour roti works wonderfully well. Best part it passes the taste test, by all family members including grannies, hubbies and children, read below to get the amaranth roti recipe.

Ingredients

  • Amaranth Atta/ flour:2 Cups
  • Mashed potatoes : ½ cup (optional)
  • Veggies of our choice like Spinach, Grated carrot: ½ cup (optional)
  • Rock salt for taste

Method

  • Mix amaranth atta with water and make it a sticky dough.
  • Add the mashed potatoes if you like, and grated veggies.
  • Keep the dough aside for few hours (say 1-2 hours).
  • Now make small round balls out of the dough and make rotis out of these.
  • Soft and hot rotis can be served with nice sabjis.

Amaranth chapati is very high in iron. You can try sprouted amaranth atta that gives more softness to the rotis. and they will be light on our stomach.
